Epilogue

We are now merging our coursework for Film Studies and Media Studies together to make things easier. Our Film Studies coursework is making a five minute film and so we will record it and my colleague will edit it and then he shall edit it down to a one and a half minute teaser trailer for Media Studies. This means that a longer film script is needed, so we came up with a basic idea for an introduction to the movie:

Epilogue

Fade in to a close up of a smoking pipe being used on a sideways view. Focus the camera more to make image sharper.

Hermlock V/O : Hello, I am Hermlock Sholmes a detective investigator based in London, England. My partner Dr. Jotson and I...

Images of Jotson and other images in sync with what Hermlock is saying.

Hermlock V/O : We work with the metropolitan police to solve crimes, may it be murder, missing people's cases or even rescuing cats from trees. Most cases are the same these days. The police find something out and then don't know where to go. That's when they come to us.  We look into the overlooked, solve the case and arrest any people in question within a few days. But then there are certain cases that are, lets just say a bit more... peculiar, than others.

Changes

Due to the high costs of costumes and props, we are going to change our idea from doing an old Victorian version of Sherlock Holmes to a modern version.  This is so that we can use our own clothes and find costumes quicker, easier and cheaper than searching for replicas. Due to this we may have to change certain parts of the idea, such as characters and filming/photography locations for our magazine front cover and poster.

Filming locations

We currently have two locations in which we wish to film our trailer.  As one of the locations is outside in a public, we have to recieve permission from the local council.  The other is inside the church itself, so we will also need to talk to members of the church.

Costumes

On our trip to town, we visited one shop, Castle Costumes.  We looked at buying and hiring costumes, make-up and props and have made a list of items and costs;
Sherlock Holmes (Hire) - £15.00
John Watson (Hire) - £15.00
Maid - £15.00
Villain monk - £13.00
Smoking pipe and magnifying glass - £7.00
Fake blood - £3.50
John Watson beard/moustache - £1.99

This comes to a total cost of £70.49, which works out to be around £23.50 per member of the group.

Costumes

Me and the other members of the group are about to head into town to look around for costumes. We have found a few potential items online but are going to try and get invloved with local businesses.  In case things don't go as planned, here are some of the items that we found.
